Porto Aerials Workshop

This workshop will feature 4 hours of beginner/intermediate aerials taught by Kenny Nelson assisted by Helena  Cardia. If you attended the Porto and Lisbon Aerials Workshop in 2011, this workshop will feature new material. This workshop is designed for dancers new to airsteps and those more experienced. Along with aerials, you will learn different flipping and jumping exercises to assist your future training.

Kenny and Helena will guide you through a dynamic warmup, drills to inspire confidence in both leaders and followers, and fun beginner and intermediate aerials. We will lead you through each aerial, teaching you how to prep, spot, and then throw. You will also learn excellent drills for jumping and landing, basing your partner, spotting, and strength. Flip, Flop and Fly with Kenny and Helena!

What to Bring:

Yourself and a Partner. This workshop is partner required. Aerials take a great deal of trust and practice someone so we want you to start here.

Snacks and water. It’s important to stay hydrated and maintain your energy levels.

Loose fitting clothes to wear and proper footwear. Please avoid wearing jeans (too rough on skin), sheer tights (you’ll be bending over), and jewellery (it could break or hurt someone).

Proper footwear to give you nice support and provide grip. If we use a gymnastics floor, socks or barefoot would be fine.

A towel for excess sweat.

Long sleeve shirt just in case you want to cover your sweat or avoid your partner’s sweat.

Lots of energy!
